Questions Sandhurst asks us
Honest answers on fabric, motorisation, tall glass, roller shutters and repairs. If yours is not here, the chat or the form will reach a consultant.
Do you work with architects and builders on a Sandhurst renovation?
Yes, and it is the right time to involve us. Concealed and recessed systems are decided by the ceiling, so we advise on recess dimensions, where motor power needs to land, and how the slot meets the cornice, the lighting and the aircon — then install once the site is ready.
Those clashes are cheap to avoid on a drawing and expensive to fix on site.
Can one remote or app run every blind in the house?
Yes. Multi-channel remotes, wall keypads and app control group blinds by room, by elevation or by whole house, including schedules and sun-tracking automation. Motors are mains-wired or rechargeable battery depending on what the building allows.
Will a sunscreen blind block my garden view?
No — keeping the view is the entire point of the fabric. A 3–5% openness weave cuts glare and UV while you still see through it during the day.
It works in one direction only, though. After dark with the lights on, that privacy reverses, which is why bedrooms usually get a blockout as well.
What about very tall double-volume glass?
Tall openings need a heavier tube, the correct fabric weight and almost always a motor — nobody wants to pull a four-metre blind by hand twice a day.
Where the elevation takes real sun we would rather put the shading outside the glass, with external venetians or shading roller shutters, and keep the interior blind for glare and privacy.
Do you fit roller shutters for security?
No. The roller shutters we fit are shading products: rigid aluminium slats outside the glass that handle sun, heat, glare and daytime privacy. Security-rated shutters are a different product with a different specification, available on request. We will never sell you the one as the other.
Can you repair blinds you did not supply?
Yes — restringing, chains, sprockets, brackets, tilt mechanisms, re-fitting after a repaint or a move, and motors that have stopped responding, whoever made the blind.
A consultant will tell you honestly when a repair is not worth doing rather than sell you one that fails again next summer.
How does the process work, start to finish?
You enquire, a consultant visits with samples for a free measure and specification, and you receive a written quote itemised per window. Manufacture is made to order once you approve it, and installation is done by our own team.
How long does it take?
Everything is made to order, so the lead time follows the product and the fabric rather than a fixed calendar. A consultant gives you a realistic date at the measure — we would rather quote a date we can hold than a number that sounds good on a website.
Are the blinds child-safe?
Child safety is standard, not an extra. Every corded or chained blind is fitted with a tensioner so nothing hangs loose, and in a nursery or playroom we would steer you to cordless or motorised control so there is nothing within reach at all.
Do you make fold-style fabric blinds or hinged louvred shutters?
Neither is part of our range. If it is a softer fabric look you are after, a cellular honeycomb blind gives you texture with real insulation and a sunscreen roller keeps the view — both things we make properly.
The only shutters we make are roller shutters: rigid aluminium slats that roll down on the outside of the glass for shading.
